NEW! - Assistant Director

  • Are you passionate about early childhood and impacting our community? In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of operating our nonprofit childcare center and working closely with the ACDC Director.

    The primary role of the Assistant Director will be supporting the Center Director to ensure the safety, well-being, and high-quality education of all children under the care of Ainsworth Child Development Center (ACDC). This position involves close collaboration with the classroom educators to design and execute daily curriculum for children. This will ensure the education program is tailored to children’s developmental stages and caters to their individual requirements while maintaining a vigilant watch over children’s safety. Additionally, the Assistant Director will actively contribute to the professional growth of the center, themselves, and the individual educators.

    • Assist in maintaining strong communication with other staff, families, Ainsworth community and surrounding area.

    • Work with Educators to ensure lesson plan activities are conducted; ensure they have access to appropriate materials for activities.

    • Ensure delivery of the classroom curriculum by assisting in each classroom once a week, such as covering the days off in the classrooms 2-3 days a week as needed.

    • Ensuring each classroom has all the necessary materials to follow the curriculum.

    • Assist with staff training and evaluations in the absence of the director.

    • Collaborate with staff to ensure adherence to quality standards in accordance with center guidelines, as well as state and local requirements, and implement improvements when needed.

    • Obtain infant/child CPR and first aid certifications, stay current with certifications and other state requirements.

    • Learn about early childhood curriculum and develop appropriate practices.

    • Stay current in the ever-changing world of childcare development, to enhance professional growth.

    • Stay compliant with Nebraska child care licensing requirements.

    • Work as a cooperative team member while showing the leadership ability to manage a team.

    • Actively interact with children as needed, including bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, lifting, climbing, walking, and moving classroom equipment up to 40 lbs.

    • Complete a pre-employment criminal history record check.

    • Be at least 18 years of age and of good moral character, and must meet one of the following requirements:

      • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, education or child/youth development.

        • Hold an associate degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, education or child/youth development.

        • Have a Child Development Associate Credential.

        • Have a high school diploma or GED and:

          • 1500 verified clock hours of experience in organized group activities for young children .

          • Submit a written plan for DHHS approval to acquire at least three credit hours or 45 clock hours of training in administration, early childhood education, education, or child/youth development, within six months of hire.

Afternoon Support Staff / Substitute Educator

  • Are you interested in exploring the field of early childhood development and are at least 16 years old? We invite you to join our team! We are currently seeking an Afternoon Support Staff member to collaborate with our classroom Educators in designing the daily education program for children. In this role, you will closely collaborate with our Educators to implement their daily plans, ensuring they are developmentally appropriate and tailored to each child’s individual needs, all while prioritizing the safety of the children under your care.

    • Ensure all center policies are followed and Nebraska childcare regulations are met.

    • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom learning environment that will enhance the social-emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development of each child.

    • Provide opportunities for each child to develop a positive self-image and experience success. In addition to observe, assess, and document each child's skills, behavior, growth, and development.

    • Assist children in smooth, daily transitions, including those from home to Ainsworth Child Development Center as well as between center activities.

    • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment and supervise support staff, and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.

    • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-Educator conferences about their child‘s progress.

    • Serve as a model and coach for support staff and delegate responsibilities to the supporting staff.
